the Roots Research Center story

Who we are

Our company was found September 1998 and is non profit. We are not a government agency so our survival depends on charitable funding and public donations. Our team consists of three adoptees in research with much experience in the genealogical research, a social worker with many years in the adoption field, two lawyers and a notary. All of them respectable members of the Greek society.

What we do

The Center offers support, counselling, family work and advice, individually or in group sessions, to any part involved. It bases its work on a belief in the unique value, and right to respect, of each individual.
In order to help adopted people find their roots, we advise them how to approach the public Orphanages and Institutions. We have very good connections with most of the public institutions all over Greece.
We offer an independent mediation service where prospective adoptive parents, birth parents and birth relatives can be helped to make cooperative arrangements about contact. We have very good connections and cooperation with all foundling houses of Greece, the Red Cross reunion section, and the Greek section of the International Social Service.

Why Roots came to be

Many children from Greece were adopted in the USA during the difficult years of 1948-1958. A lot of them have no adoption files. Now after so many years they want to know their roots, and some of them want to meet their birthfamily. It is time to try and help those people.
Forgiveness is Gods will. Both adoptive and birth families can meet. They have nothing to share, but love from both sides.

Privacy Policy

Adopted people do not deserve to become show victims in order to search for their roots. Dignity and privacy is our law.
